Early potato varieties of domestic breeding are always successful. These include the Kubanka potatoes - a productive variety, famous for the excellent taste of tubers, uncharacteristic for early root crops.
Large and beautiful potatoes are perfectly stored, do not lose marketability for several months.

Characteristics of potatoes
Potato variety Kubanka - domestic selection, early maturing, table. The first tubers ripen within 45 days after planting, but the maximum yield should be expected at the end of the growing season.
Average from 1 hectare you can harvest up to 220 centners of selected potatoes... The variety is not very sensitive to changes in the weather, it tolerates short-term drought, heat, slight cold snap. The yield is stable from year to year, the seed material does not degenerate.
Compare the yield of Kubanka with other varieties using the data in the table:
|Red Lady||170-300 c / ha|
|Rosara||350-400 c / ha|
|Molly||390-450 c / ha|
|Luck||420-430 c / ha|
|Lyubava||300-520 c / ha|
|Latona||up to 460 c / ha|
|Kamensky||500-550 c / ha|
|Zorachka||250-320 c / ha|
|Vineta||up to 400 c / ha|
|Meteor||200-400 c / ha|
Bush of medium height, intermediate type, erect, not too spreading. The formation of green mass is moderate. The leaves are dark green, medium-sized, with slightly wavy edges.
Large white flowers are collected in compact corollas, low berry formation. Under each bush, about 15 large, even tubers are formed. Not a lot of non-commodity little things.
Standard bush care... You need to plant tubers in the middle or late spring. With early planting, 2 harvests per year are possible.
The soil is fertilized with humus or wood ash, watering and single feeding with a full mineral complex or organic. How and when to fertilize, as well as how to properly feed potatoes when planting, read in separate articles on the site.
During the planting season, they huddle 1-2 times, forming high ridges and destroying weeds. Mulching can be used.
Rarely affected by late blight, black leg, root rot. Potatoes are not too susceptible to pests; under favorable conditions and competent crop rotation, it is possible to maintain high commercial qualities of tubers.
Kubanka potatoes has a pleasant rich taste... Unlike many early varieties, the tubers are really tasty, suitable for preparing a variety of dishes: french fries, mashed potatoes, casseroles.
When cut, the potatoes do not darken, retaining their beautiful creamy white color. Read about how to store peeled potatoes, how to keep their benefits in the refrigerator in separate articles on the site.
Potato variety Kubanka bred by Russian breeders... The potatoes are recommended for growing in regions with warm, arid climates. With early planting, 2 harvests per year are possible.
Potatoes are widespread in the Kuban, as well as in the eastern regions of Ukraine. The variety is suitable for industrial cultivation, planting on farms or home gardens.
Seed material does not degenerate for a long time, tubers for subsequent plantings can be harvested independently without renewing it for several years.

Advantages and disadvantages
Among the main advantages of the variety:
- excellent taste of tubers;
- consistently high yield;
- drought resistance;
- undemanding care;
- high commercial quality of root crops;
- insensitivity of tubers to mechanical damage;
- lack of tendency to degenerate tubers;
- resistance to major diseases.
There were no drawbacks in the variety... The yield is influenced by the nutritional value of the soil and the amount of moisture. With constant drought, the tubers become smaller.
In the table below you can see data on how much the average weight of marketable tubers of different varieties of potatoes is:
|Variety name||Tuber weight|
Before planting, the tubers are pickled and then soaked in a growth stimulator... After drying, the roots are germinated in the light or in wet sawdust.
You can plant both whole selected tubers and segments with eyes. They are cut with a disinfected knife just before planting.
In regions with hot climates, planting begins in April; for colder regions, planting can be carried over to the second half of May. The soil is dug up, humus or wood ash is laid out on the holes.
Bushes are placed at a distance of 30-35 cm from each other. The thickening of the plantings greatly reduces the yield and makes it difficult to care for the plants. Wide row spacings are required.
To protect against weeds and maintain a normal moisture level, they can be mulch with cut grass or straw.
For normal development, the bushes are spud 1-2 times, creating high ridges. This procedure protects plants from weeds and pests, helps to form tubers faster.
Drip irrigation is recommended to significantly increase the yield. During the planting season, you can feed it 1-2 times, alternating between mineral complexes and organic matter (humus, diluted mullein). Foliar top dressing with an aqueous solution of superphosphate is also possible.
Spraying, like the use of other chemicals in growing root crops, has both ardent adherents and those who are against the use of chemistry.
It is recommended to cut off all the tops before harvesting.... This will help the tubers grow and accumulate maximum nutrients. Potatoes are dried and sorted right on the border, the seed fund is stored separately. There are many different ways to grow potatoes. In our articles you will find everything about Dutch technologies, about growing in barrels, in bags, under straw.
Diseases and pests
The Kubanka variety is resistant to many dangerous diseases: potato crayfish, golden cyst nematode, common scab. Early ripening saves tubers and leaves from late blight.
For the prevention of planting, they are abundantly sprayed with medicinal preparations. The introduction of wood ash into the soil will help prevent the appearance of a black leg. We also suggest that you familiarize yourself with information about such potato diseases as Alternaria, Verticellosis, Fusarium.
Potato bushes can be affected by aphids, Colorado beetles. In warm regions, spider mites and cicadas attack plantings. For prophylaxis, loosening and hilling are recommended, in case of severe lesions, industrial insecticides are used.
The pickling of the tubers before planting, as well as the correct crop rotation, helps from the wireworm. Every few years, potatoes are planted in new fields, which were previously occupied by legumes, carrots, cabbage, meadow grasses.
It is recommended to sow the vacated areas with phacelia or oil radish.
Kubanka - proven and a well-proven variety of domestic selection... It has a stable yield and unpretentiousness, perfect for hot and arid regions.
The bushes rarely get sick, and the seed material does not degenerate, allowing you to significantly save on purchases.
